Ultima Virage Fluorocarbon

Virage is a hi-tech, top quality pure fluorocarbon monofilament with a breaking strain and knot strength of the highest calibre.

Virage is virtually invisible in water due to its light refraction index of 1.3 which is almost the same as that of water. This has the obvious advantages that Virage is less detectable to fish than normal mono, particularly in clearer waters.

Virage sinks and sinks quickly. When compared with water, which has a specific gravity 1.0, Virage has a specific gravity of 1.77. Thism eans that Virage will sink around three times more quickly than normal nylon. In laboratory conditions, Virage takes only 25 seconds to sink 60cm, while Nylon takes 65 seconds to reach the same level.

Water absorption affects both the linear strength and more significantly the knot strength of nylon. This can reduce it's breaking strain by as much as 20%. Ultima Virage absorbs no water, regardless of the time it is submerged, so it always maintains it's full breaking strain and knot strength regardless of how long it is submerged.

Ultima Virage is unaffected by ultraviolet light so it won't deteriorate when exposed to direct sunlight.
