These Top-Loader patterns are dressed on Gamakatsu hooks, highly rated by Saltwater Guides in the U.S.A. where there are much bigger predators to be caught close to the shoreline than on this side of the Atlantic. These patterns are basically baitfish imitations which are available in a number of different colours and styles. Their fish-like shape has been created by a layering and combing process by Ricky Varley, who rates these patterns highly. The bulk of material normally associated with patterns which look this dense is created with the combing and layering and has a great effect on the translucency and motion of the fly in the water.
