Named after Ricky Varley, this is one of his favourite patterns for imitating bait fish for many species. Ricky has experimented with many materials before settling on this profile of fly, a great advantage being that as soon as the pattern is clear of the water, it sheds the water which it held, enabling easier casting and the use of lighter weight rods for achieving distance and accuracy.
